2025/2026 NSFAS Application Dates Released; nsfas application 2025 closing date

Students eagerly anticipating the opportunity to pursue higher education in 2025 will be able to apply for bursaries through the National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) portal now. The much-awaited application period for these bursaries has been released on the official website of NSFAS.

All applications from eligible students of TVET Colleges and the University of South Africa may begin to apply now during this application season for the 2025/2026 academic year.

2025/2026 NSFAS Application Dates And Deadlines

Prospective students have the opportunity to submit their online application for the NSFAS 2025; the dates scheduled to submit an NSFAS Application are;

  • NSFAS Application open date 21st November 2024
  • NSFAS Application closing Date 31st January 2025

This period, slightly over two months, offers a valuable chance for students to apply for these significant financial aids.

All applicants are urged to submit their applications during this time and before the closing date, to stand the chance of gaining consideration for their educational sponsorship.

How To Apply For NSFAS 2025/2026

NSFAS applications for the 2025/2026 academic year are done online on the official website of NSFAS. This procedure can be done at any time and anywhere provided you meet the requirements to apply. Follow the steps outlined below to apply online for NSFAS 2025/2026;

  1. Create a profile: Create a myNSFAS account via this link: https://my.nsfas.org.za/ or download the NSFAS App on Google Play or App Store. Use your ID number as your username.
  2. Apply: Click on the “Apply” tab to update your personal information and upload your application supporting documents, as indicated.
  3. Complete: Submit your complete application. Submit your complete application before the closing date.

Required Documents To Apply for NSFAS 2025/2026

Prospective applicants of NSFAS must upload the following documents during the application process for funding for the 2025 academic year;

  • Students with disabilities must provide A completed and signed Disability Annexure A Form.
  • Students recognised as vulnerable children must provide: An applicant recognised as a vulnerable child by the Department of Social Development must provide a completed Vulnerable Child Declaration form completed by a social worker.

Other documents that may be required, if applicable:

  • Retrenchment letter
  •  Death certificate/s
  • Divorce Decree
  • Proof of legal guardianship
  • Marriage certificate
  • other documents may be required for appeal purposes, retrenchment letter

NSFAS Eligibility Requirements 2025/2026

You may apply for NSFAS Funding for the 2025./2026 academic year if  you are a

  • South African citizens or permanent residents
  • SASSA grant recipients
  • Applicants whose combined gross household income is not more than R350 000 per year
  • Persons with disabilities whose combined gross household income is not more than R600 000 per year.
  • You must have an email account and cell phone number.

Note: You may not apply for NSFAS funding, if you:

  • You have already applied and received funding in previous years
  • You have not yet graduated with your current qualification
  • You do not intend to change from one sector to another (TVET College to University or vice-versa).
