Documents Required To Submit During NSFAS Application 2025-2026

You may qualify for an NSFAS bursary if you are a citizen of South Africa, want to enrol in school in 2025, or are currently enrolled in a public university or TVET college and meet the requirements mentioned below.

Students with disabilities must provide:

  • A completed and signed Disability Annexure A Form.

Students recognised as vulnerable children must provide:

  • An applicant who is recognised as a vulnerable child by the Department of Social Development must provide a completed Vulnerable Child Declaration form completed by a social worker.

Other documents that may be required, if applicable:

  • Retrenchment letter
  •  Death certificate/s
  • Divorce Decree
  • Proof of legal guardianship
  • Marriage certificate
  • other documents may be required for appeal purposes, retrenchment letter.

Who Is Eligible For NSFAS Funding

Applicants must follow four essential requirements to be eligible for bursaries;

  • Every South African.
  • Funding candidates whose annual household combined income does not exceed R350 000 are eligible for all SASSA grant winners.
  • A person with a disability: The household’s annual income cannot be more than R600,000.
  • Students who started their education before 2025 and whose household income is not higher than R122 000 annually.

  • Create a profile:

Create a myNSFAS account via this link: https://my.nsfas.org.za/ or download the NSFAS App on Google Play or App Store. Use your ID number as your username.

  • Apply:
