Is It Possible To Apply For NSFAS Without A Parent in 2025
NSFAS Needs a consent form from parents. If either of your parents is deceased, provide a certified copy of the death certificate. It is essential to understand that NSFAS evaluates the financial circumstances of both the applicant and their parents or guardians. While the primary consideration is parental income, there are few situations in which you can apply for NSFAS without involving your parents. These circumstances include:
- Orphaned or Emancipated Students: If you are an orphan, have obtained legal emancipation, or have no contact with your parents, NSFAS allows you to apply without providing parental information.

- Apply now:
Click on the “Apply’ tab to update your personal information and upload your application supporting documents, as indicated.
- Complete:
Submit your application.
Required Documents For NSFAS Application 2025-2026
Applicant must submit copies of these documents;
Students with disabilities must provide:
- A completed and signed Disability Annexure A Form
Students recognised as vulnerable children must provide the following:
- An applicant who is recognised as a vulnerable child by the Department of Social Development must provide a Vulnerable Child Declaration form completed by a social worker

- Death certificate/s

- Proof of legal guardianship
