Required Documents For NSFAS Application 2025-2026

NSFAS applicants for the 2024 -2025 academic year must submit the following documents as required of them to apply;

Students with disabilities must provide:

  • A completed and signed Disability Annexure A Form

Students recognised as vulnerable children must provide the following:

  •  An applicant who is recognised as a vulnerable child by the Department of Social Development must provide a Vulnerable Child Declaration form completed by a social worker

Other documents that may be required, if applicable:

  • Retrenchment letter
  •  Death certificate/s
  • Divorce Decree
  • Proof of legal guardianship
  • Marriage certificate

Eligibility Requirements For NSFAS 2025

If you are a South African citizen planning to study in 2025 or are currently enrolled at a public university or TVET college and meet the following criteria, you are eligible for an NSFAS bursary:

  • SASSA grant recipients
  • Applicants whose combined gross household income is not more than R350 000 per year

Persons with disabilities whose combined gross household income is not more than R600 000 per year.

Academic Requirements For NSFAS 2025-2026

To be eligible for NSFAS funding to study at a TVET college, you must have fininshed Grades 9 to 12, and Grade 12 to study at a university or TVET college. If you are approved for NSFAS funding, you need to meet the academic admission requirements set by the university or TVET institution before NSFAS will provide you with any funds.
