NSFAS Application Opening Date And Deadline 2025/2026

The NSFAS (National Student Financial Aid Scheme) application portal for the 2025/2026 academic year will open on 21st November 2024 and will close on January 31, 2025. All interested students are required to submit their completed applications by this deadline, as applications submitted after this date will not be accepted.

How To Start a New NSFAS Application 2025/2026

To apply for a new NSFAS funding, consider the following:

Step 1: Determine Your Eligibility for NSFAS Application 2025

Before applying, ensure you meet the eligibility criteria, you must be a;

• South African citizens or permanent residents
• SASSA grant recipients
• Applicants whose combined gross household income is not more than R350 000 per year
• Persons with disabilities whose combined gross household income is not more than R600 000 per year.

Step 2: Prepare Necessary Documents for NSFAS Application 2025

All applicants must have the following supporting documents to help streamline the process:

Students with disabilities must provide:

• A completed and signed Disability Annexure A Form.

Students recognised as vulnerable children must provide:

• An applicant who is recognised as a vulnerable child by the Department of Social Development must provide a completed Vulnerable Child Declaration form completed by a social worker.

Other documents that may be required, if applicable:

• Retrenchment letter
• Death certificate/s
• Divorce Decree
• Proof of legal guardianship
• Marriage certificate

• Create a profile:

Create a myNSFAS account via this link: https://my.nsfas.org.za/ or download the NSFAS App on Google Play or App Store. Use your ID number as your username.

• Apply:

Click on the “Apply” tab to update your personal information and upload your application supporting documents, as indicated.

• Complete:

Submit your complete application. Submit your complete application before the closing date.
