Artificial Turf Overal Installation Labour Cost

Labour prices for installing artificial turf can range from $3 or $4 per square foot to $9 or $10 per square foot.

Therefore, the labour cost increase for a 1,000-square-foot installation can range from $3,000 to $10,000. While more sophisticated projects require a slightly higher labour cost, a comparatively basic backyard lawn should be closer to the lower end of that scale.

Costs associated with labour and operations include

  • Removal of the old grass
  • Delivery of the artificial grass, road base and infill
  • Preparation of the area for laying new artificial grass
  • Laying the road base and any special drainage requirements
  • Cutting and laying the grass
  • Spreading the infill
  • Tidying up

Types Artificial Grass

The three most common synthetic turf types are:

Material Type                                Cost

Polypropylene……………………$1.90 to $6.75

Polyethylene………………………$2.55 to $3.85

Nylon……………………………….$5.05 to $5.83

Polypropylene Artificial Grass

Out of the three turf materials, polypropylene is the least resilient. High temperatures and a lot of foot traffic can have a big impact on polypropylene’s appearance.

The cost of polypropylene typically varies from $1.90 to $6.75 per square foot. It works best inside, in cool climates with less foot traffic, or shaded settings.

Advantages:

  • It occasionally sells for less money than nylon and polyethene.
  • It can serve as ornamental indoor grass.
  • Performs best in shaded regions

Cons:

  • Not the best artificial turf for outdoor spaces
  • Cannot stand high temperatures
  • Unable to withstand high foot traffic

Polyethylene Artificial Grass

Think about using polyethylene artificial turf to create an artificial lawn that resembles a genuine thing. Compared to nylon and polypropylene, polyethylene has a softer feel and a more natural appearance. Moreover, polyethylene turf is far more resilient to heat and foot activity than polypropylene, which makes it an excellent artificial grass for backyards.

The price of polyethylene turf varies from $2.55 to $3.85 per square foot. This artificial grass is a great option for pet-owning homeowners because it is non-absorbent and has good drainage.

Advantages:

  • It appears to be actual grass.
  • Its texture is softer than that of polyethylene and nylon.
  • It can make an excellent backyard lawn because it is more resilient than polypropylene.
  • It’s also a great lawn for the front yard.
  • It is non-absorbent and has good drainage, making it a great turf for pets

Cons:

  • Not as durable as nylon, though some high-quality polyethylene turfs can be almost just as durable

 Artificial Grass Installation Process

You must follow these instructions for a successful installation:

  • Take Out the Grass

Take off the top four inches of your current foundation and grass, then dispose of it by local laws. It is advisable to have a dump trailer on site because dirt accumulates quickly.

  • Add Base

Next, level the area where you want to lay your grass with a consistent three-inch layer of class two road base. We can build a level platform with adequate drainage by using a road basis.

To get the ground ready for the material to be laid, run a compactor over it.

To stop weeds and pests from growing through your freshly planted lawn, you might want to add a weed barrier and gopher wire, depending on the size of your yard. It is NOT advised to use weed barriers if you have pets.

  • Lay Tuff

What we’ve all been looking forward to is the next section. It’s time to take control of your new domain!

Take care not to let your gorgeous new grass slide across your just-prepared base when you roll it out. For the grass to swell, we advise leaving it in the sun for 30 to 60 minutes. Verify that the stitch patterns and blades are facing in the same direction. A lawn like this would be unsightly if ignored.

The turf can be extended and adjusted with a carpet kicker.

  • Cut To Fit

Next, trim your new lawn with a box cutter so that it fits the unique shapes of your yard. To assist with the finishing touches, leave a quarter to half an inch of turf over the border.

Use glue and seam tape to finish sealing the seams. Perfectly aligned seams are necessary to create a tidy, organic-looking yard. Ensure that every turf piece has its blades facing the same way and that the stitch rows are all the same distance apart.

Exactly position the seam tape’s red line in the middle of the seam. Next, use the glue to form an “S” pattern on either side of the red line. After the turf is installed, give the adhesive time to solidify.

  • Secure the perimeter

To secure your grass to its three-inch foundation, place 40-D 5-inch non-galvanized turf nails every six inches after tucking in the border with a putty knife and hammer.

To strengthen these locations, we also advise putting a few nails along the seams. Before adding infill, use a push or power broom to straighten the lawn’s blades. As a result, the blade memory will become increasingly vertical.

  • Spread Infill

The filler needs to be spread next! The look, feel, and longevity of your lawn will all be directly impacted by the proper amount of infill added. To evenly distribute the recommended amount of infill, use a drop spreader.

  • Brush Infill

Using a push or power broom, clean the lawn following the installation of the infill. This will straighten the blades and provide the illusion that your new lawn’s grass has just been mowed. To get rid of any remaining dust, give the grass one last washing.

  • Enjoy Your Lawn

All that’s left to do is unwind and enjoy your freshly installed turf after washing your lawn and packing up your tools! Never again will you need to worry about waking up early to mow. The only upkeep required is a few times a year of lawn brushing.
