Who Qualify For NSFAS At WITS 2025-2026?

To qualify for NSFAS at WITS, students need to meet specific eligibility criteria.

You must be a South African citizen who plans to study in 2025 or you are already studying at a public university or TVET college
South African citizens or permanent residents
SASSA grant recipients
Applicants whose combined gross household income is not more than R350 000 per year
Persons with disabilities whose combined gross household income is not more than R600 000 per year.
Must have an email account and cell phone number.

Create a myNSFAS account via this link: https://my.nsfas.org.za/ or download the NSFAS App on Google Play or App Store. Your ID number will be your username.

Apply now:

Click on the “Apply’ tab to update your personal information and upload your application supporting documents, as indicated.

How to apply for Accommodation and Allowances 2025-2026

for NSFAS To pay for residence at WITS, please follow these steps

Log in to the student’s self-service portal
Click on ‘STUDENTS”
Click on “STUDENT SELF-SERVICE”
Enter your person number(student number) and password
Click on “FINANCIAL AID”
Click on “ALLOWANCES AND ACCOMMODATION” then complete the form

How To Update your Banking Details at WIT For NSFAS 2025-2026

Please note that students who qualify for allowances need to update their Banking details online by following the steps below

Log in to the student’s self-service portal
Click on the “My Bank Account” tile
Click on the “Add / Update Account” tab
Follow the instructions

What happens to the credit balances in my account

All credits at the end of the academic year must be returned to NSFAS.
The financial aid and scholarships office will process these as a charge to the fee statement to clear the credit in the fee account.
If these are not processed at the end of the academic, they will still be processed in the following year.
The university must return these funds to NSFAS.
