NSFAS Final Year Programme 2025

The NSFAS Final Year Programme is a focused intervention designed to help students in their last year of study. Its major goal is to guarantee that financial constraints do not prevent students from completing their university education. This initiative is part of NSFAS’s commitment to ensuring that all South Africans have access to higher education. With the implementation of the Final Year scheme, students can convert 100% of their final year loan into a bursary if they graduate during their final year. All NSFAS students are eligible to have up to 40% of their loans converted into a bursary if they pass a certain number of subjects.

The NSFAS loan scheme will pay for students to study for up to (n+2) years, where n is the minimum period necessary to obtain the offered degree. A “final year student” is a student who has completed n to (n+2) years of education. The Final Year Funding Programme aims to boost student throughput in the NSFAS system.

Documents Required To Apply For NSFAS 2025

NSFAS applicants for the 2025 academic year must submit the following documents as required of them to apply;

Students with disabilities must provide:

A completed and signed Disability Annexure A Form

Students recognised as vulnerable children must provide:

An applicant who is recognised as a vulnerable child by the Department of Social Development must provide and Vulnerable Child Declaration form completed by a social worker

Death certificate/s
Divorce Decree
Proof of legal guardianship
Marriage certificate
