NSFAS Application Opening Dates And Deadlines 2025/2026

NSFAS applications for the 2025/2026 academic year will officially open on 21st November 2024 and will accept applications from eligible students. all interested yet qualified individuals are advised to submit their applications when its open. What NSFAS Funding Covers in 2025?

NSFAS funding is designed to provide financial support to students, covering various aspects of their higher education. The NSFAS scheme typically covers the following;

• Accommodation
• Living allowance
• Learning material allowance
• Personal care allowance

If you attend the University of South Africa (UNISA) you will receive funding for:

• Tuition
• Books (subject to the number of modules registered)
• Personal care allowance

If you are an eligible student with a disability, you will receive funding for:

• Assistive Devices
• Meals
• Tuition
• Transport
• Tuition
• Human Support
• Accommodation

Who Qualifies For NSFAS 2025/2026

You are eligible for an NSFAS bursary if you are a South African citizen planning to study in 2025 or are currently enrolled at a public university or TVET college and meet the following requirements;

• South African citizens or permanent residents
• SASSA grant recipients
• Applicants whose combined gross household income is not more than R350 000 per year
• Persons with disabilities whose combined gross household income is not more than R600 000 per year.
• You must have an email account and cell phone number.

You are not eligible for NSFAS funding if;

• You have already applied and received funding in previous years
• You have not yet graduated with your current qualification
• You do not intend to change from one sector to another (TVET College to University or vice-versa).

Documents Needed for NSFAS Applications 2025/2026

All NSFAS applicants for the 2025/2026 academic year are required to submit supporting documents. The following documents must be uploaded during the application;

• Students with disabilities must provide:

A completed and signed Disability Annexure A Form.

• Students recognised as vulnerable children must provide:

An applicant recognised as a vulnerable child by the Department of Social Development must provide a completed Vulnerable Child Declaration form completed by a social worker.

Other documents that may be required, if applicable:

• Retrenchment letter
• Death certificate/s
• Divorce Decree
• Proof of legal guardianship
• Marriage certificate
• other documents may be required for appeal purposes, retrenchment letter

Note: Based on the application type, the system will generate a list of required documents for upload.

How To Apply Online For NSFAS 2025/2026

NSFAS applications are done online on the official website of NSFAS. the online application procedure involves three(3) simple steps. The steps include;

• Visit the official application portal of NSFAS at: https://my.nsfas.org.za/
• Create a profile: Create a myNSFAS account via this link: https://my.nsfas.org.za/ or download the NSFAS App on Google Play or App Store. Use your ID number as your username.
• Apply: Click on the “Apply” tab to update your personal information and upload your application supporting documents, as indicated.
• Complete: Submit your complete application. Submit your complete application before the closing date.
