2025/2026 Application Closing Date

The application portal for the NSFAS financial assistance program is OPEN for the 2025/2026 academic year. Apply now a stand the chance of gaining the financial assistance required.

The application portal is active NOW until January 31, 2025. All applicants are urged to submit their completed applications before the closing date hence NSFAS may not consider late applications for the 2025/2026 academic year.

NSFAS Eligibility Criteria 2025/2026

To qualify for NSFAS funding, applicants must meet the following eligibility criteria:

South African citizens or permanent residents
SASSA grant recipients
Applicants whose combined gross household income is not more than R350 000 per year
Persons with disabilities whose combined gross household income is not more than R600 000 per year.
Must have an email account and cell phone number.

NSFAS Application Process 2025/2026

Applications for NSFAS for the 2025/2026 academic year are done online on NSFAS official website. To apply, follow the steps below;

Create a profile: Create a myNSFAS account via this link: https://my.nsfas.org.za/ or download the NSFAS App on Google Play or App Store. Your ID number will be your username.
Apply now: Click on the “Apply’ tab to update your personal information and upload your application supporting documents, as indicated.
Complete: Submit your application

Required Documents Below to Apply For NSFAS 2025/2026

To apply for NSFAS, you must upload certified copies of supporting documents. The following documents must be uploaded;

Students with disabilities must provide:

A completed and signed Disability Annexure A Form

Students recognised as vulnerable children must provide:

An applicant who is recognised as a vulnerable child by the Department of Social Development must provide and Vulnerable Child Declaration form completed by a social worker

Other documents that may be required, if applicable:

Retrenchment letter
Death certificate/s
Divorce Decree
Proof of legal guardianship
Marriage certificate
other documents may be required for appeal purposes,….eg retrenchment letter.
