Step 1: Check Eligibility

Before applying for NSFAS funding, ensure that you meet the eligibility criteria. To be eligible, you must be;

• South African citizens or permanent residents
• SASSA grant recipients
• Applicants whose combined gross household income is not more than R350 000 per year
• Persons with disabilities whose combined gross household income is not more than R600 000 per year.
• Must have an email account and cell phone number.

Step 2: Gather Required Documents

To complete your NSFAS application, you will need to gather several supporting documents. These may include;

Students with disabilities must provide:

1. A completed and signed Disability Annexure A Form

Students recognised as vulnerable children must provide:

1. An applicant who is recognised as a vulnerable child by the Department of Social Development must provide and Vulnerable Child Declaration form completed by a social worker

Other documents that may be required, if applicable:

1. Retrenchment letter
2. Death certificate/s
3. Divorce Decree
4. Proof of legal guardianship
5. Marriage certificate
