NSFAS for Unisa 2025 Application Closing Date

2025 NSFAS applications are now open and will close on 31 January 2025. Applicants are urged to submit their applications before the closing date, as late applications may not be considered for the 2025 academic year.

Who can submit UNISA NSFAS Application 2025?

  • South African citizens or permanent residents
  • SASSA grant recipients
  • Applicants whose combined gross household income is not more than R350 000 per year.
  • Persons with disabilities whose combined gross household income is not more than R600 000 per year.

NSFAS Required Documents To Submit 2025

To complete the application, you’ll need specific documents to support your eligibility. Make sure to gather the following documents beforehand:

  • Certified copy of your South African ID or birth certificate.
  • Certified copies of your parents’ or guardians’ ID or death certificates (if applicable).
  • Proof of income for each working member of your household (payslips, employment letters, etc.).
  • If your parents or guardians receive social grants, provide proof of this.
  • Academic records, including your matric certificate or previous academic transcripts (if applicable).
  • UNISA student number (if you’ve already applied for admission).

Students with disabilities must provide:

  • A completed and signed Disability Annexure A Form

Students recognised as vulnerable children must provide:

  • An applicant who is recognised as a vulnerable child by the Department of Social Development must provide and Vulnerable Child Declaration form completed by a social worker

Other documents that may be required, if applicable:

  • Retrenchment letter
  • Death certificate/s
  • Divorce Decree
  • Proof of legal guardianship
  • Marriage certificate
  • other documents may be required for appeal purposes,….eg retrenchment letter.

UNISA 2025 NSFAS Application Procedure

For the registration dates, please visit the Unisa website:www.unisa.ac.za/Apply. To Apply, follow the steps below;

  • Open myNSFAS account via this link: https://my.nsfas.org.za/ or download the NSFAS App on Google Play or App Store. Your ID number will be your username.
  • Click on the ‘Apply’ tab to update your personal information and upload your application supporting documents, as indicated.
  • Send your application.

2025 Appeals At UNISA

  • Appeals for new and continuing students will be open from 20 January 2025 to 20 February 2025.
  • All students are required to appeal directly to NSFAS via the myNSFAS portal.
  • Visit www.nsfas.org.za for appeal supporting documents.

Who Might Receive Refunds At UNISA

  • All NSFAS-funded students who pay the minimum registration amount to activate their registration will be refunded.
  • A refund will only be processed once NSFAS has confirmed the successful processing of registration data to Unisa.
  • An application for a refund is not necessary.
